Aspen is famed for attracting the mega rich, but it is a great area to visit in summer or winter whatever your budget. Part of the state of Colorado, Aspen is located in the eastern part of the White River National Forrest.
Aspen’s major draw is its almost unrivalled ski slopes, but it has far more to offer than just winter sports. The magnificent Elk Mountains are incredible all year round, and the town itself is attractive, cosy and has plenty to see and do.

Aspen Mountian – The first of Aspen’s ski resorts started business back in 1936 will one crude ski lift. Commonly known as ‘Ajax’, the mountain now has many trails and incredible varied terrain, and that’s why the skiers, snowboarders and everyone else leave happy every year.
Buttermilk Mountain – The 420 acres of trails here are favoured by snowboarders. A variety of different difficulty levels, and instructors on hand make this a great resort for all levels of ability.
Rio Grande Trail – Great for walking or hiking, this trail runs alongside the Roaring Fork River and is a simply magnificent experience.
Maroon Bells – The most popular photo opportunity in Colorado, these two unique mountains stand at the far side of Maroon Lake and are an awe inspiring site.
Aspen Historical Society Museum – A variety of changing exhibits throughout the year in this fantastic 1888 building.

Aspen Food and Wine Magazine Classic (June) – One of the most prominent events in the culinary calendar. Top names from the world of food and drink come to Aspen to share tips, recipes and entertain the crowds.
